The objective of the Pune Metro line was to address connectivity issues in the city. It provided a dedicated rapid transit system to counter increased congestion and pollution resulting from rapid urbanization after the Mumbai-Pune Expressway's opening and the IT boom.

The concept of making the structure energy-efficient depended not only on the architectural factors but also on reducing stress, enhancing creativity and clarity of thought, improving well-being, and expediting healing. As urbanization increases, nurturing these qualities become increasingly important.

Leveraging insights from the project’s sustainable benefits, the concept was further refined to enhance energy efficiency. Integrating biophilia played a key role in achieving this improvement.

The factors incorporated into the structure not only utilized green energy but also honoured the local traditions and culture. This was achieved by installing solar panels on the roof, using highly reflective materials, integrating active and passive cooling methods based on traditional practices, and employing sustainable, locally sourced materials.

The culture was embraced by showcasing its history and lifestyle through murals designed for the station. This concept was inspired by Pune's four main pillars: agriculture, culture, education, and information technology.
