Guardians of Heritage: Brinda Somaya Joins Global Panel for 2025 World Monuments Watch
World Monuments Fund’s 2025 Watch Highlights Global Efforts to Protect Cultural Heritage from Threats like Climate Change, Conflict, and Overdevelopment.
The World Monuments Fund (WMF) established the World Monuments Watch in 1996 to protect cultural heritage sites facing threats such as conflict, overdevelopment, and climate change. The initiative raises global awareness and develops strategies for preserving these sites while empowering local communities. With nominations from 69 countries, the 2025 Watch aims to highlight urgent threats and guide effective preservation efforts worldwide.
Brinda Somaya, founder of Somaya Sampat, has been selected as a panel member for the 2025 Watch. An expert in architecture and urban conservation, Somaya has led over 200 projects that balance heritage preservation with social equity. Somaya joins a distinguished jury of global experts to review the nominated sites, ensuring that the 2025 Watch identifies the most pressing heritage preservation needs ahead of its January announcement.
